This city was a mid-century playground long before it was a vacation spot, and that history is still sitting on shelves all over town, waiting to go home with someone. The Shops at Thirteen Forty Five

This is the most curated vintage experience in town, and it’s housed in an iconic E. Stewart Williams building in the Uptown Design District. Fifteen individual shops live under one roof here, mid-century furniture, vintage jewelry, art, garden sculpture, all set inside a genuinely beautiful piece of architecture. You’ll pay a little more for what you find here than at a flea market, but the quality shows it.

Sunny Dunes Antique Mall

For the real thrill of the hunt, head to Sunny Dunes. This 6,000 square foot warehouse holds more than 40 independent dealers, and the inventory changes constantly, so no two visits are ever the same. Danish modern furniture, vintage jewelry, retro kitchenware, records, it’s the kind of place where you plan for an entire afternoon and still don’t see everything.

Iconic Atomic

If clothing is what you’re after, this is the spot. Iconic Atomic specializes in mid-century attire, real vintage pieces that actually fit the Palm Springs aesthetic, not just costume shop leftovers.

Palm Springs Vintage Market

Time your trip right and you can catch this one. It’s held the first Sunday of the month from October through May, and it’s an open-air market with more than 70 vendors selling everything from mid-century furniture to vintage clothing, vinyl records, and antique jewelry. It’s outdoors, it’s lively, and it’s one of my favorite ways to spend a Sunday morning in the desert.
